Monster Spawner (Minecraft) has no known uses in crafting. Monster Spawners are generated in many structures to make exploration more difficult and to protect their treasures. Right-clicking a Spawner with a Spawn Egg will change the mob it spawns. Spawners cant be collected with tools, silk touch or not. Their ability to spawn an infinite amount of mobs makes Spawners an easy way to create Mob Farms to obtain their drops automatically. Therefore, Monster Spawners for hostile mobs can easily be deactivated by placing a Torch on each site of the block or one on top of the Spawner (the second strategy won't work on Blaze Spawners). The Monster Spawner spawns up to 4 mobs four blocks around it, when the player is fewer then 16 blocks away from the player and normal spawn conditions for the mobs are met. When broken, Monster Spawners will only drop XP, even when the tool is enchanted with Silk Touch. Monster Spawner, often called 'Mob Spawner', is a block added by Minecraft.
